I had the striped fabric from a previous project. The fabric was sold in a 5 yard bolt. I used it to make trim on a Toy Story's Woody vest twice (two separate years) and to make a convict outfit for my one year old. Surprisingly, I still have some left. Back to the project. I sewed the "stockings" into tubes with one end stitched shut and then stuffed them with Hershey's treasures (gold bricks from the yellow brick road).
The shoes I purchased online, but are also available at JoAnn in the wedding section. I imagine you can find them elsewhere and I'm not attempting to product push, that's just where I've seen them. After buying them, I spray painted them red; inside and out. When that had dried, I smothered them with glitter glue, which dried and left the sparkle. (Note: glitter glue is not waterproof, so if you plan to have them around water or hold them in your hot sweaty hands, you may want to coat them with a clear coat)
The final step was to tie off the ends with a thin green satin ribbon and then tie on the two quotes, in this case applicable to the theme of the event, but you might want to insert your own. The quotes I used were:
1. By President Gordon B. Hinckley, Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995-2008. "When we save a girl, we save generations. No one can foretell the consequences of faithfulness in the life of a young woman."
2. By the Wicked Witch of the West. "Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?"
Love it! It's okay to say you did it in Young Women. It will make you more searchable and maybe you'll end up being famous on Sugardoodle or something! ;D These are really cute and I love the sentiment.
